So I took my first sip of the Blue for my birthday in June when my buddy got me a super swage 600.  I took care of the crimp on about 4000 .223 rounds in a day and a half of watching tv after work before bed. Then sized them using the DCL and my trusty lee die and portable table I. The living room.

Then....oops I found eBay mobile.  Mmmm mmm. Amazing to not miss auctions.  Now I didn't get a fantastic deal or anything but I got a SDB at a good price and dillon had already gone through it and revamped it for the previous owner. I know 550 650 1050. Yeah yeah yeah but I only wanted something for pistol mainly cause my damn fingers are to fat to handle the smaller casing for e sry step.   Now if only UPS will show up!     Tips and tricks from other SDB owners would be appreciated!

I love my SDB.    What caliber is it set up for?   What do you plan to load with it?

One thing that could have saved me some money was instead of buying a whole new powder measure assembly, just buy the bar that moves back and forth.    Leave your adjustments in place and switch that out with the powder.    It's not a whole lot more hassle than changing the whole thing anyway.

Great suggestion on the powder bar.  I'm loading 9mm and 40 for myself. I still need to get the 40 dies but I'm gonn cut my teeth on 9mm first.

I started with a Super Swage 600 (my fingers are thanking me for it), then drank the koolaide on a 550 (loving it), now I am looking at getting a 1200 trimmer for .223. This is addicting....good and addicting

The SDB is a great press. Some SD p0rn,

Half way thru a 1k batch of 9mm.

Secrets, Keep it clean. If you spill powder on the shellplate, remove shellplate and clean. Remove primer assy and clean.

The only priming problems I have ever had were caused by not cleaning up powder spills.

A small amount can be cleaned off with a small brush or a can of air.

PM, Smooth off the burrs on the moving parts, don't forget the inside of the PM where the powder bars move.

A light touch with 400 grit wet or dry, just smooth off the burrs, don't remove metal.

The wood wheel allows hand adjustment of the PM, instead of using a 7/16 wrench.

Ball powder will measure best, Flake will measure ok as well.

Read the manual and follow the instructions, you will be off to a good start.

If a manual is not included, you can download one from here Dillon.

Welcome to the blue koolaid club.

If you have problems, post a thread, we will help.

Holy shit you're a fucking genius!  That's embarrassing that I didn't think of that tho!

Dryflash. Thanks for the SD p0rn I got my press mounted this morning and I ran through 50 rounds once I got it adjusted and set up.  I had a blast running through the 50 rounds it so rocked.  I am so geeked I'm going to go hit the farm tomorrow night after work and see how well I truly did.  Is there an issue with over crimping? While adjusting I have about 4 rounds that I think are crimped a bit tight.  I had six that I just plain screwed by not pressing forward and properly seating the primers.   So after a trip to Bass Pro for a frankford kinetic puller all is good. DUH.

I'm sure it was a bit of excitement about churning out rounds so quick I just screwed the pooch lol.

Thanks for everything everyone!

Now if there was a cheap source of caliber conversions and shellplates for at 550, that would be great.

I wish the same for the 1050.........I have one set up for 9mm, 38 Special, and 45 acp and need to add 223 Remington to that.  I will probably end up just getting the conversion kit and just use an existing toolhead and reset the dies on it for 2 calibers.

Yes you can over crimp. Too much crimp is as bad as no crimp.

Just pay attention to what you are doing and think priming. Couple of k under your belt, and it will be second nature.

Like any reloaded ammo, visually check each round, including the primer seating.

I check every round with a case gauge, and look at the primer seating while round is in the gauge.
