Actually its a user problem
I was at the store yesterday and for the first time saw some pistol primers, so I HAD to buy them. Didnt notice till later that they were CCI 550 MAGNUM small pistol primers. I intended to use these for 9mm whenever I got set up for that. Is there any way I can use these or should I just try to find someone local to me to trade for regular primers? Thanks. |

As a general rule stores refuse to exchange powder or primers. Your's may be the exception, but I doubt it.
Reduce your powder charge when using the magnum primers. I'd say at least 1/2 grain will be safe. Plan B. Buy a .357 Magnum so you can properly dispose of those primers. |

They'll be fine if you use start loads. Sounds like a plan. Thanks for the input. |

I use them all the time. just use your regular load but reduced a little then work up. I dont have a regular load yet, havent loaded a pistol cartridge yet
then just work up a load with the mag primers. as a side note i use small rifle mag primers for standard small pistol applications and they work fine and more accurate than i can shoot. |
