With the F1 Shooting Chrony, I'm understanding that the LCD display DOES display the decimal point if it reads under 1000 fps. Is my understanding correct? I'm taking that it does insert the decimal on the LCD from the directions here: http://shootingchrony.com/manual_F1M1.htm#how%20it%20works
I'm still trying to get accurate chrony readings with pistols. Every pistol round I fired over the chrony that didn't have an error did not have a decimal on the display. This time I was testing at about 12' from the bench (in miserable wind, but that's another story). The readings ranged from 1060 to 7628 (I was expecting about 800 fps out of these loads). My sense is that because they're subsonic, the muzzle blast is getting to the chrony before the bullet (also from the online directions), but my question is at what distance should I expect this to not occur? I was at max length (the length of the phone cord that powers the remote display) last time with no better results; I also tried closer (10') last time. I have yet to see a decimal on my display...
Rick P.S. Rifle (.223) worked as expected (again). |
