I load .223 and use either wolf or CCI #41 primers.

To reload 308 do I use wolf LR regualr or the magnum primers and any other recomendations.

Speer, in writing their reloading manual, likes to use magnum primers when ball powder is used.  Ball is a bit more temperature sensitive and it's a denser column, so a hotter/longer spark, in their experience, is called for.  Regular primers for stick powders.

Other manuals use standard primers with their ball workups, so it's up to you.  If you're shooting in Montana in February and using Win 748, it might be prudent to use a magnum primer.  Shooting the same load in Miami in August, probably not so much so.

If this is target stuff and you can find them, maybe the match primers from CCI and Federal (BR-2s, 210Ms) would serve you well?

CCI large rifle primers are on the cooler end of the spectrum, that's why they recommend their magnums for ball powders. Winchester standard large rifle primers and Federal 210M are virtually identical and are the hottest standard large rifle primers, CCI military primers would fall in this class too. There is no need for a magnum primer in .308 or even .30-06.

I would consider any loaded powder charge of 60+ grains as being in magnum category.

What about Wolf?

I've used them in 9mm .45 and 223(although I used the magnum primers).

I'm going to swing by there after while, so I'll check.  It's possible I could be persuaded to locate a couple hundred from my personal stash.  I might even throw some magnum primers in, too.

This reminds me that I need to re-inventory my primer hoard selection.  I'm not going to get caught as short as I was last year.  I had primers, but not as many as I could have shot up.

Let me know, I don't even have the tools to reload 308 yet so I'm in no hurry and the gun I just purchased for 308 probably will not be in my possession for a week or so.   I'm just thinking of what I need to get to reload another caliber.

There are a few cartons of CCI, Remington's, and Federal 210's.  There are some 210M's, and they are real thin on 215's and other magnum primers, so I would say you better get them now.  The supply has slowed to a trickle again..
