When sorting milsurp brass, do you sort by headstamp and date or headstamp only?

I've got about 100 pieces of Lake City .30-06 that I just ran through the tumbler and noticed it is a mixture of about 4 different dates.

I stick with like head-stamps.  Now if I have 1K or so of each date, then I sub-divide it into dates as well.  But for smaller batches, head-stamp suites me fine.

Most of the time I only sort by headstamps.  But thats just me.  I have how ever sorted out 1000 LC that are all the same headstamp and year more than once.  I have a large lot of about 12K of WCC that is all the same headstamp and year.  One of these days I'll get around to using it or  I'll just sell it

All depends on the level of accuracy you are going for.

Precision loads, sorting is your friend.

Normal shooting ammo, I only sort to mil cases or commercial.
