I want light loads. Just for plinking. Maximum controlability and low recoil are desired here.

The only powder I have right now is tite group. Any thoughts on recipes for this powder for:

125 gn
147 gn

Also... my tite group is almost out, so what is a good powder to consider for these types of loads in the future? I've heard good things about accurate no. 7. Thoughts??

Have a load data book? If not buy one, if so look for a powder that you can use for both. WSF comes to mind for one that will work for both. Or go to Hodgdon" site.

115 gr. Rainer/Berry over 5.5 gr AA#5

Go to the Hodgdon, or Alliant powders website.
Look for data using Universal and Unique powder.

Start of low and work up your loads.

Plinking loads are easy to work up....

I've been to the Hogdon site and gotten load data for these grain of bullets. I was just looking to see if ARF had any good plinking recipes to recommend.

Berry's 125gr plated with 4.4gr Universal Clays or Winchester 231.

I use 3.0 grs Clays with a 122 cast RNFP for a light accurate load.

Full power loads with jacketed bullets I use Power Pistol, True Blue, or TiteGroup.

He'll be pretty underloaded on this. I load 124 grain Berry's on top of 6.0 AA#5 and get very solid results. With a slower powder and a lighter bullet, he may get failures to eject or short-stroking.

For plinking loads, the two most important characteristics are reliably functioning in your gun and ease of loading. Currently, I have two loads that work well for me.

115 Gr. Jacketed Bullet over 6.5 grains AA #5 (published load is 6.3-7.0). AA#5 meters well in my Lee Autodisk, and the load functioned well in my M&P9.

115 Gr. Jacketed Bullet over 4.8 grains HP 38 (published load is 4.7 to 5.1 grains). This powder also meters well in my Lee Autodisk, and the load functioned
well in my M&P9. Note: HP 38 is the exact same powder as Win231. If you look at the Hogdon site, you will see exactly the same loads for each, including exactly the same pressure. This powder is made by St. Marks (I believe) and was sold to both Winchester and Hogdon before Hogdon took over the Winchester powder line.

Whilst I'm unsure of what is happening here, I can contribute that AA#5 is the cleanest gunpowder I have ever used in the 23 years I've been pulling the trigger. It's like Mister Clean For Hire has been scrubbing down my barrel once the shooting session has ended.

Never seen him post in the Reloading Forum, buts that's funny no matter who you are.

147gr bullet, 3.3gr Titegroup.

TiteGroup is a great all around pistol powder. I use it for all the major handgun calibers. I have a great 115 grain load that barely makes IDPA power factor using a plated boolit. Problem is it's off  the published charts so there's no way I'd post the recipe. Point being you need to find a load that works best for you. Hodgdon's charge recommendations are very conservative. Start 2/10ths of a grain above minimum and I think you'll be happy.

I'll give you a very rare load data, this comes from Speer's #8 manual dated 1970: 125gr. speer soft point, 9.0gr. start 10.9max of H-110.  I have tried this in pistol and carbine and indeed works well.  Just don't get too close to your target with the pistol......it may catch fire.

A 124 or 125 grain bullet over 4 grains of Unique = magic.

I just loaded ( and tested ) some 124 grain plated bullets over 4.6 grains of HP-38.  Worked well in my Sig P6.

Winchester Super Field is very accurate and mild shooting with 115 and 124.
