soo when i first go into realoading about 2 years ago. (when i was 19) i bought like 5000 mechanically pulled M855 62gr projos just to have around.
Some of them are beat up pretty bad. (i knew this when i bought them) They need to be resized per the auction I got them from. But I seperated out the ones that didn't show signs of pulling. and i have about 1000 good to go projos and about 4000 ones that are out of round and have semi-deep pull marks. What should I do with the ones that are beat up. Sell to someone who can resize? Find way to resize myself? Throw in closet for rainy day shtf disaster last resort ammo? Thanks! |
| I had some pulled ss109 a few years ago and I loaded them and they shot fine at 50 yards, almost no different that new ss109. I only shot them at 50 yards and I can't comment on longer ranges. The M855 isn't very accurate anyway so they should be fine for plinking or just blasting. |

i have thousands of the ones the OP is talking about. if i am thinking fo rthe same deal he is.(gunbroker, sold in 30 cal ammo cans, for cheapppppppppp think 13-15$ per 1K shipped)
anyways, i get good enough accuracy out of mine(2-4 MOA) thats good enough for me at 100M for the price i paid |

With or without pull marks, SS-109's are 2 MOA for me. Don't worry about the marks, they get more going down the bore. Get a Lee .224 sizing die, screws into your press, lube bullets with case lube and size. Clean off lube, alcohol, and load.  any links to the lee .224 sizing die? Sorry, I thought you meant resize the whole bullet, yes you can get a push through type die that will resize the base of the bullet but it's probably not worth the effort with those bullets. At gun shows I always wounder why people sell/buy these bullets at a higher price than a good bullet, example, one guy was selling SS109 green tips for $350 per 500 and right beside them where Hornady factory new 55 gr FMJ-BT's that will shoot twice as accurate for $200 per 500 rounds. 
Why do people want these "plinking bullets" when you can get better bullets for less money? Now I understand if you get a good deal like mentioned above that you just cant pass up 1 MOA or 4 MOA, cheap is cheap. |
