| I see that quite a few people here use Nufinish car polish with their media. Is there a reason for that particular car polish and not another brand? The reason I ask is I have several bottles of other brands like Meguiars, and Zymol. Could I use these or is there something I'm not seeing? |
| I like NuFinish since it is fairly cheap, works well with walnut, does not contain wax and does not leave a coating buildup on the bottom of my tumbler. But, what you have will probably work fine. Give it a try. Over the years I have used Dillon, Midway, Mothers, etc and they all worked pretty well with corn cob but did not give a high shine with walnut like NuFinish does. I also cut up a dryer sheet into about 12 pieces and put it in with the media. The dryer sheet keeps the dust down and absorbes dirt making the media stay cleaner longer. |

I stated using Mothers California Gold Scratch Remover(in a bottle like Nu-Finish but red) and it works much better. It's got more abrasive and less wax to it since it's a scratch remover instead of a polish, I put about 1/3-1/2 bottle in with 2.5-3 lbs of new walnut and it mixed and dried with the media way faster than Nu-finish does. All I can say is WOW!!! the brass looked like it had already been cleaned with walnut and polished with corn-cob, it was amazing at the bling to say the least and this was just 200 pieces of RP range(indoor) pickup.
I suggest it to anyone looking for a good alternative cleaner/polish. |
