Good evening everyone.... I have a few questions on some rounds that I started producing. I am a bit new to the reloading thing and had worked up a load that works well for my rifle.
my load is the following R P brass CCI 400 primers Varget powder 25.2 gn 69 gn Sierra Match Kings Loading equipment Lee Classic Cast press Lee .223 dies Setting the die to 2.260, I am getting a variation in OAL from 2.258 to 2.263. All from the same loading most are at the desired 2.260 but there is variation. Is this normal or is there something I could be doing wrong? I have also noticed after cycling a few of them though my rifle I am getting two light groves along one side of the bullet itself. Enough you can feel it with your finger nails. In new enough to this game not to have the answers to these questions and Im seeking help. TIA V |

I make all my loads with a 2.250 OAL, this makes sure none will be over mag length of 2.260. What you measured is normal, and is pretty darn good for that particular bullet. The scratches are caused by the lugs on the barrel extension. Take a peek in their and take a look at them. |
