The military CCI ones or the Fiocchi small rifle primers?

I will be using them for my AR. More for plinking ammo, i will also try to make some accurate loads too using AA2230

Buy the CCI military spec or CCI-BR4's, both will work well, hold pressure and pose no problems in .223.

The answer will only come from your gun(s) when working up the loads!

I use CCI 450's with no trouble in my hottest .223 loads. The CCI 400's would flatten out slightly in these loads. I only use the 400's in mild loads now.

I buy "Made in the USA" as a first priority.

Yup.......I've never purchased WOLF primers.

Of course........that may change.

Ok, Fiocchi gets not love =(

I ordered the CCI. The reason i asked was that the Fiochi come with 1500 for $40, and the CCI are $31 for 1000

Since you have to "order it."  I assume that you're paying "extra for haz mat."   So, IMHO.........why not buy some Fiocchi to "experiment with?"

Unless, you've already hit the maximum amount that you can order (with one haz mat fee).

There are no 'wrong' primers, but one may be more 'right' than another for any given load in YOUR GUN.

for example.

I worked up a load for Sierra 77gr MK's using Varget and Winchester sr primers.

Just for giggles I made up 10 rds each with Win primers, Wolf sr, Magtech, Fed and Fed match.  Every small rifle primer I had on hand.  I fully expected to not improve on the winchesters except maybe with the Fed match.

Lo and behold the Wolf turned in the best performance by far with the standard Federal's the worst.

Now this is reloading!  Change up the parameters and let the gun bbl strut it's stuff!
And, if David Tubb uses Wolf primers....they sure are good enough for me.  My experience with Wolf has been limited so far to about 20K of SPP.  They go bang!
Now, the price increase has made less attractive.  With CCI being cheaper.  But, the response from rifle shooters with hands on with the Wolf primers is all thumbs up.

I hear you.

I got a '95 Chevy P/U (before the GM bail out).   Yup.......some parts are from all over the world.  And since it is a '95 Chevy..........I don't really know where it was manufactured/assembled.

But, the point was more that we know GM is an "American Company" (be it only in name).

WE (the taxpayers of America) have made an "investment in GM."   And......WE the taxpayers, need to get re-paid.  How will that be accomplished if we Americans buy "foreign" and GM goes under?

Maybe the next "troubled company/industry" might be the American primer makers, powder makers, gun makers, etc.....??

You know that it all starts with cheap imports.  Wait....my tin foil hat is kind of tight.

Aloha, Mark
