| I'm very close to grabbing a Dillon 1050 but was wondering what I would do with all 8 stations. How does everyone that has one of these presses set them up? |

I want to set up a tool head to do nothing but prep brass, I have about 10K rounds of brass that needs to be prepped, if I use the RT 1200 to trim how would you recommend I arrange a brass prep tool head? Not sure about how you would do it on a 1050, but on a XL650 with 5 spots, I run a prep case head of Full Resize with carbide .223 die in #1, and use the RT1200 on station 4, trimming to 1.750 after that if the brass is once fired I run them through a super 600 swager. Second tool head is set up for prime and powder drop in #2, powder check #3, Bullet seater #4, and factor crip in #5. I can see a big time saving advantage using a 1050 and being able to swage the primer pocket when you do the case prep process, for the price you spend on a Super Swage 600, I should have gone with the 1050. |

I run the trim in station 7, just because I feel it fits better there and I can easily see if the trim looks bad (looks bad, probably is bad, so time to stop and figure out what is wrong) in station 8 as soon as the press advances. The 1050 that I have dedicated to trimming, there is a size/deprime die (Dillon carbide) in station 1. station 2 is the swage station. I've removed all the primer subsystem, ditto the powder and powdercheck. Then the trimmer, then nothing but an eyeball inspection station. TR |
