Friends and I bought a few thousand Fiocchi .223 with the 40 gr. V-Max bullet in the 50 packs. . Shot them this spring on prairie dogs with my WOA 1-12 twist AR upper. It was a great round, very accurate and was flawless. NO PROBLEMS....
Until now.........Tried to run them through my 650 dillon.....Nothing but problems.....Primers are crimped in and the brass is Very Hard to size and worst of all out of the first 50 that that I ran through the press problems with the punch job on the primer flash hole. Nearly everyone was off center......On some the flash hole was at the very edge of the primer pocket. Tried to deprime on my universal decap die but just broke the primer knock out pins. What a pain !!! The brass is not headstamped Fiocchi as I have seen before. IT is marked ββββat least it looks like G.F.L. or G.F.I. or B.F.L. or something like that. It could be D.F.L. .... Anyone else had problems like this or have any ideas if it is worth trying to save this brass ??? |

Lee sells a manual decapper that consists of a punch and a base to put case.
They come in 22 and 30 caliber. You will have to "feel" the flashole with the punch if the flashole is off center. They are about $ 5. Here is the Midway Link. I broke my 30 cal punch, sent it to Lee, they sent me a new one. Lifetime guarantee on these. |
