Anybody have any experience loading light bullets in .308? I'm loading for a DPMS LR308T.
I shot the DPMS Tri-gun this year and talked to several competitors who told me they were using 125-135 grain bullets in their 100-200 yard ammo. The idea is that lighter bullets recoil less and higher velocity makes comps work better.

Speer makes the great 125 grain TNT

Many years ago I loaded Sierra 110gr HPs in .308 and shot them out of my Rem 788.  They worked great on ground hogs.

I use Hornady vmax 110 Gr out of my bolt action. I usually shoot 200-300 yards and get awesome groupings.

Do you have any powder recommendations? I'm hoping to get some idea of what has worked well for others before I start load development.

I have been getting good results at 100yds with H335 and Sierra 110gn.

IMR3031 and Win 748 were the most common powders used but starting in the late 70s I totally switched to 748.

Sierra 110 grain hp, and H335 gave me good groups at 200 yards. But the down side is out off my 16 inch barreled Remington 700 I was getting a big ass fire ball, i mean big.

I have been shooting 110 gr. V-Max over 40 gr of H4198 out of my AR10. Nice groups and 0 recoil.

The idea is to get the splits down as fast as you would shooting minor/223.

This forum really is not the place for 3gun reloading; almost none of the shooters here participate in 3g nor do they understand it.

On a slight tangent, who was the site sponsor that has bulk pack 110gn SP? Someone posted a link last month I think.

I used some 130g Speers for woodchucks.  Running at 3120fps, they would rip a 'chuck to pieces.

I shoot the speer TNT at 200 and less. I put it on top of my 168gr load (41.5gr IMR4895) and it comes out of the barrel doing around 2450fps. Very easy recoil.

10rds, prone, iron sights in match M14.

It's shot well on any powder and charge I've tried.  It's just not very picky at all.  2.75" OAL works well.

I worked up some loads for the 110gr VMax and got sub-moa groups.   My gun is a factory Remington VSSF that was accurized by Brad Stair at Wasatch Precision.  I added a Bell and Carlson Stock and Shilen Match Trigger.  I was really suprised the light bullets shot as good as they do in the .308.

I have had good luck with 110 grain V-max over AA2520.

I didn't realize there was a section for 3 gun reloading on BE's site. I posted the same question on the rifle/shotgun reloading section and got less info than I did here. You are right about the kind of info I'm looking for. I wasn't aware that nobody here would have any knowledge of 3 gun or what it consists of as far as equipment goes.
Since you seem to know what I'm talking about, any suggestions?
