I have heard in here that I should not get married to one powder. I am just getting started,  and so far I have two different loadings, with two differnt powders. I'm getting ready to develope a third load, should i do it with the powders i have? I'm loading 223, and so far I have varget and BLC2.  My third bullet will be a 55gr hornady spire point.

Nothing wrong with either powder.  BLC-2 would be in my top 3 powder choices for load development with 55 grain .223.

Married to a powder?
IMHO....if it works stick with it and buy in bulk whenever possible.  Especially with .223/5.56.  Plenty of proven performers out there and documented here.

I use W748 and Varget for my 223, and the only reason that I would use something else would be if I ran out of those two, and they were not available.  BLC-2 is an excellent choice of a ball powder for 55 gr projectiles.  I like the Varget for the heavier match bullets.

That's right!  You should have a pound of everything.  That way your always confusing your loads and you get to spend your entire life developing loads rather than actually......  SHOOTING!

Thank you for the replys. I will be sticking to the BLC2, keeping it simple. that makes a lot more sense to me.  I'll keep the varget in the heavy  rounds.

I am a fan of BLC2 and 55 gr bullets in the AR.

If you want to try another powder, let me suggest Tac.

A ball powder that can also be used with the heaver bullets.
