Please re-read the site CoC and the forum rules in the FAQ's.

Keep all trades, offer for trades, sales, whatever in the way of commerce out of threads in this forum.  Keep all communication in IM's and emails.

Everything for sale or trade goes into the Equipment Exchange.  The site owner is inflexible on this topic.

From this point forward I will simply lock any threads I find with this activity.  No comments or warnings will be added to the thread.

Giving stuff away is still okay, that has always been permitted here.

From the Conduct Code:

Specific To Sales
1.) Companies or individuals cannot advertise or sell products and or services in the forums (including siglines and titles) without prior approval from the site owners. (Industry Partners are allowed to post sales or specials on a limited basis.)

2.) Individuals interested in selling or trading equipment should resort to the Equipment Exchange. At no time should an item be listed in any discussion forum. (This includes links to auctions.)

3.) Fraudulent practices or attempts to defraud another person or group will be dealt with very seriously.

This is clear.  Everyone reading this agreed to this condition when joining the web site.

Just a question…

If a thread is otherwise productive would it be possible to edit or delete the offending post in place of a lock?

That is at the discretion of the Mod(s).  Since their time is limited, don't count on it.  It's their call.  FWIW, AeroE said he'd lock the threads that violated CoC in this manner.  He could have said he'd trash them, and still have been well within his rights to do so..

I have come to respect AeroE, over time, as a judicious Mod who has also personally contributed much time and effort to this Forum.  Cetainly his efforts can be called above and beyond the call of his job as Mod.

He has my full support in this effort.  'Nuff said..

Judicious because the staff won't give me a ban hammer the size of an aircraft carrier, so I have to resort to other means.  That's a good thing in the end.

I laugh because on 9/18/09 at 8:37:33 PM EDT you offered to buy a 50 cal loading block that someone is making. That would be one day before you posted this.

I guess the site staff gets to play by different rules?

It would be nice if we could have a little thread for swapping misc brass though. Instead of selling small lots on the EE, just have a thread where we could swap say 50-100 pieces of misc for this that and the other. Jussayin

Yeah thats kind of the problem of having the reloading EE only on the new EE.

doing a "brass trading post" thread pushes the rules too much i know, but it would still be realy helpful vs the ee. call it a pay it forward with benniffets (sp? long day).

thanks for all the help you put in around here AeroE! i do know for me, stupid questions sometimes can not be answered by a manual.

I've given several new clues in the last week and didn't trash the threads because every single instance was caused by someone other than the person that started the thread.  So, I gave the perp another chance to get reaquainted with the conditions he agreed to when registering a user name with the site.

You're the Mod, and I don't interfere with Mods unless they ask for assistance.  If they ask, I assist.  By the time I become involved, it is often the case that the velvet hammer has been tried and found wanting.  As I said, AeroE Mods his fora with little interference, unless he asks for assistance.  In such cases, i'm inclined to give him exactly what he asks for, and with no questions asked on my part.

I can see both sides here on this one, I guess my question AeroE is that while we can post the odd few pieces of brass in the "pay it foward" area there are plenty who go to that thread that may not reload.  Personally I would like to see a reloading pay it foward but again that is not my call on that. mainly yours. If you say no then that is what it is. Just a thought is all here.

We have always allowed everyone to give things away.  It's simple - start a thread with you stuff, and give it to anyone you want.

We're not advertising Lemishine until we try to sell it for our own gain.  That's no different than giving a review for Redding dies or a recommendation to drink the blue koolaid.

But I'm going to be ticked off if y'all start hoarding Lemishine and it becomes hard to find.

Bump to the top for noobs that didn't read the Conduct Code or the forum rules.

Offering to buy will cause a thread to get trashed just as quickly as starting a "For Sale" thread.  That is why phil333's thread is gone.
