Don't you think you should have researched your purchase before laying hands on it?

He is right.....it's horrible.  Send it to me.....IMMEDIATELY!

You did fine.  Its good powder for almost all 223 loads, but it's specialty is HEAVIER bullets....ie...LONG RANGE.

PS....maybe you shouldn't jump is butt....read your own quote from your signature.....

Don't be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.

You will like Tac.

It costs less than more popular brands, so you know its crap.

I just switched to TAC.  It works just fine for 55gr bullets.

Haven't tried it in 75gr bullets as I still have some Varget in stock.

FYI, Lately in 'Guns Magazine', lots of .223 AR related articles suggest even the lighter bullets shoot well with TAC.

I'm quite pleased with TAC, Remington 7½s, and 68grn Hornadys in my A4 at 300+yds.

I used to be a extremely avid reloader back in the mid to late 1980's and just recently got back into it.A lot of new powders are out i never knew about.I used to use in my .223 relaods
IMR 3031, Reloader 7, WW 748 and the new kid on the block then Accurate MR223.First stuff out in plastic bottles(anyone remember tin cans?) So now that i got back into it and reading on here what people are useing i've used Varget, TAC, H332, H335.So far i like the Varget and TAC about the same as accuracy on paper but TAC wins because it measures so good out of my Uniflow.
TAC is great stuff as far as i am concerned and i've been useing CCI 450 primers with it.I still want to experiment with some other powders eventually.

I throw 24 grs of TAC behind a Hornady 68 gr. BTHP. And we do a lot of long range shooting mostly with the .308 off the ground. But a I can ring a 12" x 12" piece of AR 500 steel from 300 yards out to 500 yards with the TAO1 Acog pretty easily. My 100 yard groups are a bit bigger with this, a little over a MOA, but with 52 gr. BTHP match they tighten up a 100 yards, Using Tac powder aswell. You will like this powder.

TAC is a fine powder for 223 in an AR.  Good score.

Below are groups fired with 77gr. Sierra MatchKing over TAC at short and medium range out of accurized 18" 1x7.7 Krieger/CLE barreled A2. Both groups were fired in marginal conditions due to variable winds and boiling mirage with magazine length cartridges (COAL 2.25").

5.56mm pressure 77gr. SMK over TAC@500yds. (4.35") & 100yds. (0.52")

I have had good luck with TAC and 55 grain bullets.  Next trip to the range I have some 68 gr hornaday's to try out.

I like the Hornady 68gr BTHP match and used CCI 450 and 23.4 TAC and was good shooting but can diffently go up, i think 24 next load.
I just did 40 rds of 55gr V-MAX with 24.5 and can't wait to try those out.

Well there in this day and age most people have a plan, especially with tight supplies of what the heck they are buying!
And when people experiment they usually have a plan or a set of parameters to test, so again someone should have an idea of what they are buying before they buy it!

I get good results with cheap bulk pack 55.gr Winchester FMJBT and 25.6 grains of TAC; last time it was out shooting for chrono/accuracy I used my 1/7 chrome lined gov't middy/ 3x ACOG to shoot two separate 5 shot groups on different targets that each came in at ~ 1.6" at 100 yards.  With a precision optic I could probably do better than that.

24.5 grains with the same projectile seems to have a lot of fans.

Haven't had too much luck with the 75 gr projectiles yet, but I'm working on it.

just woundering what is your oal on these ?

Which one?  For 55gr FMJ I seat to the middle of the cannelure and use a Lee factory crimp die.

I have a bunch of Hornady 75gr OTM T1C projectiles, I seat it so I get as long an OAL as possible while still reliably fitting in a USGI magazine.  This ends up about 2.244" OAL, and the cannelure is just visible sticking out.  I seat the regular 75gr OTM's to the same depth; you have to redo the seating die, though, the ogive is different.

I shoot at 500 meters frequently and have found that TAC  works well for me with 77 SMK's. It also performs well with 55 grain Hornady FMJBT and I can many times shoot this at not much over 1 MOA. I personally find TAC a very versatile performer for my needs.

What sort of velocity does your 77's like?  Hotter, or slower?
9/7/2009 6:55:51 PM EDT

I use 23.8 of TAC and get 2730 out of my 20." That's on the hot side.

You did just fine and I am sure you will like it.  I plan on using it with 55gr FMJ's and maybe even in my .308.

As to the experimenting before buying I guess I am bad then because when I saw Graf's had it for $102/8lbs a couple years back I bough 32lbs.  Maybe this year I will get my H335 gone so I can try it.  All I have been reading is positive reviews but you know if I don't like it I don't think I will have a problem selling it.

I have switched from Varget to TAC in most of my 223 reloads
69 Nosler CC- 24.3 TAC,win cases and Fed 205 match
77 Nosler CC -23.2 TAC,win cases and Fed 205 match
I have not tried it in the 55 fm, for this I like W 748
TAC measures very well in my Dillon 550,weights running + or - 0.1gr
Begin with start loads from reloading books and info from Ramshot powder
and work up 0.2 gr slowly

I just did some load development today with TAC.  I like it.  No chrono, I let the paper tell the story.  I ended up with this:

16 AR
55gr Montana Gold
Rem brass
Fed primer
24.5gr TAC

20 AR
52gr SMK
WIN brass
Fed primer
24.5gr TAC

M1A
147gr pulled surplus bullet
WCC brass (70)
Fed primer
41gr TAC

All seated to mag length.

Heres a 20 round group fired out of my SPR type rifle at 100 yds.  It measures approx 1.75

unsorted brass, mostly LC and Win.  26 grns Tac behind a 60 grn vmax lit by a federal primer.  Yes its hot, use at your own risk.  I may back it down .5 grain and try some CCI benchrest primers.
