Hordandy L-n-L progressive
RCBS seating die
.223 FMJ

When raising the ram to seat the projectile die sherred off part of the tip!!!   Had used this die on a sigle stage press without problems.  Had backed off like directions say raised ram with shell in shell holder and adjusted die down until it hit the shell, then backed off 1-1/2 turns.  Had one actually push bullet all the way in case.  tried adjusting it all the way out then creeping down on it  with out luck.

Is there a reason i shouldn't be able to use this die in this press?

thanks

Is it shearing durring the index operation or during the actual seating?  Perhaps this die is too long for that particular round?

I use lee dies on my LnL AP but haven't tried the 223 ones yet, can't find the shellplate.

Did you adjust the seating stem also?

I would adjust the die this way -

- back the seater stem way out to clear the case and bullets,
- run the die down on a case until I feel the crimp ring contact the case mouth, then back off about a half turn,
- lock the die body down.

- prepare to seat a bullet,
- run the seater stem down a little,
- seat the bullet,
- check the COAL, then
- readjust the seater and re-check the COAL until the seater stem is adjusted.
- lock the seater stem down.

Proceed to seat bullets.  Crimp later if necessary.

I just bought my LnL AP about a week ago and picked up the #10, #12, & #16 shell plates all at the same store locally, you may have better luck at a Bass Pro or Cabals than on the net right now, most local shops have slowed way down but some thing are still hard to find on the net due to so many people looking for the same thing. As a matter a fact the local Bass Pro has two #16 shell plates instock right now.

+1 on Aero's response. You have two things to adjust...1) the die   2) the seating stem within the die
