How do you set up a full length die to just neck size?
I have a batch of .308 that need to be reloaded and I wanted to leave the case body alone.
I know I should just get a neck sizer, but if I can use my FL set that would be great.

Back it out of the press a little until it is not pushing back (resizing) the shoulder.

So set the die up like the instructions say then back out say a 1/4 turn and lock ring?

If you're going to partial-resize, you should own a case gage of some type so you can monitor the head to shoulder (headspace) dimension of the case.

Measure the existing headspace of the fired brass.  Stoney Point/Precision Mic, whatever.

Pull the expander/decapper out of your FL resizing die.  Back die out a couple turns.

Resize.  Measure.  Adjust die downward til you reach the point at which the die just starts bumping the shoulder.  Then, back the die out just a hair to eliminate the shoulder bump.

Reinstall the expander/decapper and go to town.
