Guys I know this has been asked before. I just couldn't find it in a search. My search Fu is weak.

Now that I have gotten my call from RRA that my 9mm upper is being made I would like a good load for it.

Does anybody a good load. Lite and heavy bullets. 16" w/1-10 twist.

If using hollow points, I prefer the heavy bullets.  I usually load the 147 grain Remington bulk bullets from Midway over a maz load of Power Pistol.

For FMJ, it doesn't make much difference.  The lighter bullets will have a slightly flatter trajectory, and might penetrate a bit more of a hard barrier, but if that was what you were after, you would want a rifle cartridge, not a pistol cartridge.

The Colt 9mm system is quite strong.  The 147 grain loads mentioned above worked fine in 2 different 9mm carbines, but a lighter load actually bulged the case in my SIG P226.  Which is the reason why we start low and work our way up.

Not sure what Alliant says is max at this time, as they keep changing their minds.

I also use lead bullets with my COLT 9mm carbine.

125 gr RN.....same loads as my pistol ammo.

Wow! an RRA 9mm? I ordered and paid for one in advance last December. Finally cancelled in early July when I was told there was no ship date in sight.
A friend of mine got one last year. It misfed from mags all the time. A gunsmith told him the mag well adapter wasn't screwed down properly. careful!
Good luck

Ok. any leading problems and have you chrono'ed the load. How fast can you push lead in a 16" barrel. I would think not as fast as in a short pistol barrel.

RRA just started shipping 9mm mid's. Waiting a year F that. I lucked out. I ordered on July 15 and got a call about a week ago saying it will ship in a week to a month.

The "leading problem" will depend on a lot of factors.

Barrel condition, velocity, hardness of the lead, gas check, lube, etc...........

A story about my 9mm carbine.........

So, I was shooting at a 100 yd range one day at some steel and doing some slow fire.   LOL........I pull the trigger, the carbine goes bang.    I wait.........then, "ting."   I can understand why a full auto 9mm carbine is just more fun.

Aloha, Mark
