I'm loading some berry's 200gn SWC bullets for .45 auto. Found a good load of 4.2gn bullseye. Tried 4.0gn but that was just a tad too low for function.

I'm having trouble finding a good COAL for these to feed reliable.

So far i've tried 1.230"
                        1.220"
                        1.210"

I'm pretty sure longer isn't the way to go with these.

So should i try shorter? How short would be too short?

And yes i have looked in my manuals. I would like to have an answer from someone who has loaded these or is more knowledable then I am to the reloading world.  Thanks.

Try 1.25 inches or thereabouts.

Longer works for me on the 200gr. SWC. Mine are right around 1.243" The lead driving band sticks out of the case about 1/16 in.

I load my 200 gr SWC's to 1.250 in 45 ACP. Feeding and accuracy are good.

I am shooting a pair of 1911's.

I used to open up the lips on GI mags for 200gr SWCs, then I switched to Wilson SS magazines and had no problem with feeding.
