With a newly discovered source of 'stray' golfballs, I'm thinking about getting a golfball launcher (for use on the mostly unused 300yd range), but the thought of paying for factory blanks really irks me.
Not being able to crimp brass like the factory does, so:

1. Is reloading factory blanks on a rockchucker even possible and not contraindicated?

2. Is there an alternate safe load that could be devised to accomplish the launch without spending $$ for factory rounds?
(die cut stack of telephone book pages, parafin, soap, etc)

Safe suggestions only, please
I'm serious about this
Thanks guys

Sure, loading blanks for your launcher is possible.  Does the maker of the launcher have information?

A crimp of the case mouth is not necessary to make a blank.  There are a couple of companies that make a crimper; I think C-H tools is one, I would have to check their web site.  I would plug the case mouth with wax.

I found a load for a M195 duplicate using IMR 4475, and that's all I have handy.

GaryM has made blanks for launching rifle grenades, he might have more sources.

ETA:  I found a little more information in TM 43-0001-27.

M755 blank:  12 grains Hi Score 700X

M200 blank:  7 grains HPC 13 powder [I have no idea if that cross references to anything we would recognize]

M195 blank:  25 grains IMR 4475  [This is the only rifle grenade blank]

If it were me, I would experiment with case forming charges of Bullseye or similar powder.

If I found a bucket of range balls, I'd whack them with an old drive at the shooting range.

In fact, we occassionally do this.  There's something just sweet about trying to whack a ball over the 200 yard berm, while guys are shooting.
