Seems like there was a thread on this somewhere but I can't find it. So I am going to ask. I have been trying to sort my win. 308 brass by weight.
there is up to 2.1 grains difference in these cases with no real average. I was thinking of only allowing .5 difference in weight, but by doing this
the only average I got was 102 cases out of 350 within this range.  What is the difference in weight that anyone else is allowing, am I being to
picky or what? Please don't answer like get lupua or norma. The thing is right now I can't afford lupua for short times at
work. So I have to make do with what I have any good advice or insight on this would be appreciated

It's still a waste of time.

Make matched cases with uniformed primer pockets, deburred flash holes, and turned necks.  Then match the cases by measuring their internal volume.

2 grains of variation is barely 1% of the case weight; that implies a negligible change in case volume across that range.  A half grain of gunpowder is about 1% of a typical powder charge in .308 Win.

You might as well go through the exercise anyway.  Almost everyone has to do this to find the path that suits their shooting.

 I sort cases by––
Manufacturer, date made or lot #
   number of times fired
case weight after all case work done ( sized, primer pockets uniformed, flash hole deburred, trimed
some turn necks to uniform thicknes ) then sorted into batches ( 30, 50, 80 ) with as close a weight as posible
in each batch (0.5 gr or less if posible ), best batches used for long range matches, next best for shorter range,
and leftovers ( heavier and lighter odds and ends) used for practice

What you are trying to do is eliminate as many diferances as posible with the buget you have
