I have been reloading for years now for various rifle and handgun calibers. I have just started reloading for my Marlin 1895ss. I am experiencing a FTF. I can feed a round one at a time manually with no problem but when loaded into the tubular magazine the round wont chamber without a slight manipulation of the action. I am seeking advise from your experiences with the 45/70. I have read where others have trimmed brass shorter and seated the 405 deeper with a lower charge. Any help would be helpful thank you.

I have a .450 Marlin guide gun and I trim .10" off the standard brass (trim to 1.900") and then use the regular crimping groove for that bullet. Otherwise you need to crimp over the shoulder and it chambers with a good bit more effort.
