| I was poking around my local reloading shop looking for large rifle primers. The only primers on the shelf were some CCI APS primers. I do not own a APS primer, but was wondering if I could punch the primers out of the plastic strip and use them in my regular RCBS hand primer. I understand that I would not want to touch them with my bare hands and such. Has anyone done this - tell me your results... |

I use the APS primer strips. I use a pen to poke them out they are not in there very hard shouldn't be a problem. I just pop them out on a primer tray. Same here. Of course now I see RCBS has machines that allows you to go the opposite way- loading loose primers into APS strips to use a APS primering tool. Anyone have any experience with them? Are they faster? |

I have a progressive pro 2000 which uses the strips. I need to call rcbs and talk to them it doesn't work as good as it should. It's a great idea though. I never used tube priming before I hand prime my .308 brass. My press came with the tool to load them into the strips and that works pretty good too. You just have to make sure the strips are in just right to install primers into then but it's a nice little operation. I stocked up on extra strips for large pistol and small pstol. I would guess that their hand priming tool that uses the strips is good to go. I like the whole process it's pretty smooth. Their products usually perform really well and I have had great experience with their customer service. I'm sure after I call them and talk to them about my press it will be all good. |
