I am kind of overwhelmed. I connot find load data to save my life.
Using the following components 7.62x51 LC 04-05 brass .30 165gr AP bullets CCI #34 primers WC846 powder. Also, I have some .30 API 147gr (aka M14) bullets I would like to load up. I only have 24 and the load needs to be right on the money. |
|
correction, the bullets are 164gr
And I am doing my homework, not just asking for information. All the load data on this site for .308 looks like its sponsored by varget and matchking. BLC2 = wc846 which is to 2 spots above 748 on Hornady's burn rate chart. The LC 05 cases are trimmed to 2.000. With the bullet seat, cannelure barely visible, 40 grains of WC846 is a compact load. |

Quoted:
I have loaded BLC2 and 165 gr bullets, but not with WC846. What was your load, or starting point? I am going to test this load tommorrow. BLC-2 data from the mfg has a hornady SP 165gr with 44 starting load. Reduce 10% to get 39.6gr . I am using LC cases so I backed off 1.5, actually 1.6 to come up with the following.. 38gr start load. |

You back off 10% from max not start. At that level you don't even need to account for brass differences unless it is some off the wall brass. LC and U.S. commercial are all fine at start levels.
