So I loaded up on a couple cases (10K) of small rifle primers recently. I decided to list a couple of boxes of 1K on GunBroker. Well, they sold for ALOT more than I thought they would. Are people really desperate enough to pay $.10 a primer???? I feel a little guilty, but I didn't force anyone to pay that much.

How guilty should you feel? I'd worry more about "Should I plead guilty?". I won't be pleading guilty of anything. Shipping was done through my buddies hazmat. He owns a gun/hardware store and sells powder and primers all the time. I don't think the risk of shipping illegally would be worth it. |

Don't feel guilty at all. If someone wants to pay that much for getting it right now that is their business. For me, I wouldn't sell any of my primers even for that much unless I knew for sure I could absolutely replace them. I would rather have a for sure abundance than a few extra hundred dollars. Maybe for $1/primer I could let some go. If you are OK with parting with some primers then more power to you for getting a market price for them.I'm glad I have been accumulating components for the last 10 years (first ten years of reloading I just bought when needed). Every single item I bought costs way more today then when I bought way back, even last year. One of the best inflation hedges I stumbled into. All because I couldn't stomach paying $20/50box of .44 mag back in the late 80s. |

I have a question. How do you send ammo to another person? I have some ammo I would like to try to sell on GB. Selling it is easy, but shipping it is hard. You need to ship through a licensed hazmat UPS account. Powder and primers have to go HazMat, loaded ammo can ship by common carrier like UPS or FedEx. Just mark the box ORM-D and you're good to go. Some of the shops like the UPS Store may give you a hard time because they don't know the rules but it doesn't require anything special. |
| The ones that bother me are like the local Hunting and fishing store here in the tri state MO/IL/IA , pricks are selling their ammo and stuff their getting in on G/B instead of putting it on the shelf for the local people that have supported them all these years , screw them they will never see a dime of my $$ again , so screw you GameMasters |

It doesn't always work directly, but I do believe it works through in the end. No, you didn't force anyone to pay that much, but there is an element of taking advantage of people who don't know better. I think the bigger problem is that places like GB are conditioning people to pay MORE for primers, which will affect us all in the end. The ONLY reason I posted this was because you asked. That means your conscience isn't entirely sure either. Ultimately, you're the only one who has to live with being the type of person you are, good or bad. Me, I would have just hung on to them, or sold some to friends at cost plus a little for time and effort. |

I can tell you this much, it bothers me enough that I wont be selling any more of them on GB. I will hold onto the money and buy more primers when they become available. |

Which will eventually affect all of us, I got sick of it. Then placed a large order for primers, powder, that should hold me till they start campaigning for the next presidential election or longer, because I need it. I will not even think of selling it anywhere. I won't contribute to the madness. That also means I can skip the " Where can I Find..............? posts and concentrate on the ones relevant to my reloading efforts. I finally learned from this site buy in bulk. Then you don't sweat the price and a availability problems. Just my.02 |
