The title says it all.  I lucked in to some and was wondering if it was appropriate for the AR for a plinking load.

Thanks,

I have used A-1680 in 7.62 x 39. It was designed for this cartridge.

Never tried it in 223.

Edit, checked Accurate's web site, A-1680 is not listed for 223.

I have a bunch for the 7.62 x 39 loading, and tried it in the AR15/223.  The powder is too fast and short strokes at maximum apparent pressures.  Was awesome accurate with 40 grain bullets though.

AA-1680 will be similar to the 4198 family.    I have loaded some 1680 in 223, it will work,  though fast for the application,  it ran for me... better choices  with the 748, 335, 844, 846, BL-C2, 2230, 2460, 4895, Varget, and many others of similar burn rate.

If you look in the older reloading manuals (AA #1 or #2) you can find plenty of published data for 1680, but you can probbly guess it is not included for a reason. It is a dang fast powder and things get weird in a hurry with a powder that is fast for caliber/bullet weight. Choose something else.

Way to come through AssultRifler.

Made my copy, you never know if you will need this data.

Many better powders for 223 than 1680.....but 1680 is awesome in the 357 Maximum.  That is how I use it.
