I just acquired a large amount of "range brass" from an outdoor range, and it is super nasty.  Most of the pieces are almost black with tarnish.  What is the best media to polish/clean this brass with?  Also, should I add liquid polish to it or tumble a few times first?

I would do a soak in a mixture of vinegar and water, then do a tumble in walnut, then do a tumble in corn with the polish added.

if that dont do it nothing will.

If it is almost all black I wouldn't even waste my time. No telling how long it has been laying in the elements. I have found brass months later on my private range that wasn't blackened.

I agree.  Why waste your time and maybe more (your firearm or injury to your self) on a few bucks.  Scrap it and find other brass.
Common sense should always prevail.

The walnut worked great!!!  It took most of the tarnish off, and the corn cob polished it up pretty good.  Some of the pieces are a little dull, but clean
