Has anyone reloaded using their bullets? Their bulk price per 1000 is pretty good and they get a good review on Midway. After checking their site, they recommended using lead bullet data or reducing a standard charge by 10%. So, does anyone use their stuff? I'm looking at their 230 grain, .45 cal bullet.
Thanks |
| Great, thank you! I've read a few people's reviews on other sites that say they are soft and can become slightly deformed during the seating process. Price is great and I'm trying to decide between them and Montana Gold. MG offers free shipping at 1,000 .45 FMJ for $141.00 compared to Rainier for similar. |

Ive run thousands of them. They are sorta soft, not as soft as lead, way softer than jacketed. They recommend using loads similar to lead to start.
I loaded about 1000 raniers this week.... 9mm, .45ACP, .44. the only thing I use jacketed in is the .357sig They are good stuff and a great value. you wont regret it. |

All of the plated bullets use soft lead. Most manufacturers recommend you start with lead starting loads and work up as normal. The lead in a FMJ is soft too but because the jacket is thick, you don't see it. Soft plated bullets aren't bad. Remember, Speer Gold Dots, arguably the finest SD loads are plated, yes, I said Speer Gold Dot bullets are plated. |

Gave up on them. Plain lead shot better, and real FMJ is the same price. I'ts true that Precision Delta FMJs are competitively priced with Rainiers and Berry's. Son-of-a-bitch, I wish I would have known about Precision before ordering from Berry's. Same price for FMJ's as their plated. Next time.... |

Last I checked both Montana Gold and Golden West were competitively priced with Rainier.
Ever since Rainier started advertising their bullets as "leadsafe" a year or two ago they jacked up the price. I suppose if you do a lot of indoor shooting it might be worth it, but I havn't used an indoor range in 20 years or so.
