Ok so a while back(month or 2 or 3) I remember skimming an article in a magazine about turning .22 brass into .223 bullets.(btw if you know what magazine/issue I'm talking about please tell me, there was another article I wanted to look at.)

My first question, is it worth the time to use for cheap plinking/practice ammo?
Is it cost effective vs. just buying normal bullets?
Does anyone have any sites that show you how to do this?
Does anyone on the forum do this?

Sorry if my post is a bit incoherent, I'm hoped up on antibiotics/pain pills after a 10 hour work day....

Thanks for your time

Fat_mcnasty did a huge thread on this, probably in the archives. IIRC you needed about $500-$600 worth of gear to do it.

It was a cool thread though.

I have the magaize in question in my upstairs bathroom.(Go figure).

Wepteck911 is right, though.  You'd have to outlay around $600 for the dies alone.  I have not done it, have not shot any either.  A gent from the castboolits.com website said something about making some and needing testers, so I volunteered.  Haven't anything back yet.

In the article in question, the author stated to keep the loads sedate, as the thin case/jacket might come apart due to rotational force, much like a Sierra Blitz bullet shot out of a fast twist barrel.  I'll dig out that magazine and tell you what and when it is.

Too bad the pictures are gone. That really was a quality thread. Better than 90% of the gun magazines could do.

SWAT magazine. IIRC it was a 3 part series I think the last issue was Dec 08.

That's not the magazine I've got.  The article I've read is from a November 2007 "Shooting Times".  FWIW it was written by Scott E. Mayer.

Of course if the op's nice he could mosey over to the SWAT MAG forum here and ask Denny really nice... he might forward you the articles.

The recent thread on swaging is linked through the tacked gateway at the top of the forum.

Well, I thought it was there.  I'll see if I can dredge it up later.  Or anyone can do that with Search here.  Once it's found, I'll set it so it can't fall into the archive.

I paid ~100 bucks for a set of 224 6-s dies for a rockchucker conversion WITH a derimming die from Larry Blackmun ~20 years ago.  Corbin is NOT the only game in town, but he has all the advertisements.
