Good Afternoon:

I am a recent graduate to the "Blue Kool-Aid" team

I am encountering a small problem with the pull-down lever that connects to my powder measure.  There is a small white nylon bushing that is placed on the threaded pulldown rod.  Basically, when you pull the lever back down into battery; the bushing meets the black metal "fork" that is attached to the carrier; causing the rod to remain captured.  The tension of how hard the powder measure is pulled back into battery is predicated on how stiff the return spring is compressed.  That compression is adjusted by raising or lowering the blue plastic nut.

The darnest thing happened to this bushing; it cracked and split at the base of the tophat.  Crazy glued it back together, and it cracked again.  Put a new part in from my spare parts kit; broke in about 30 or so strokes of the press!

I read the manual, watched the video, etc.  I have it adjusted so that the spring present a little bit of tension causing the power measure to fully cycle on the full downstroke.  I repositioned the powder measure so that it has what I think is the minimal amount of sideways friction.

I called Dillon and they said that they thought it was a defective bushing and mailed me three new ones pronto.  Thanks Dillon!

So, I am trying an experiment.  I took a piece of solid hookup wire (20 or so gauge insulated) and twisted it around the top of the bushing to try to keep it captured in the fork.  As soon as my next load of brass stops tumbling, I will load up another 300 or so 200 SWC's.

Yup, there is a question somewhere here.....  Anyone else experience the same type of a failure on their new style powder measure?  Am I missing some sort of a capture device like a "C" washer or a gate that keeps this bushing in place in the fork?  I think what causes it to crack is that it pinches on the bottom side of the fork and causes a stress fracture that ultimately fails.

I appreciate anyone's input on this.

Regards,

Wally.

PS: I was on the red team for over 20 years.  I used to sell Lee stuff in retail and at the funshows.  made a good buck thanks to Bill and Hildabeast.  Met John Lee many moons ago.  He and his Dad are fine people.  Liked my Loadmater very much.  Still do.  But the Dillon really reall is the bomb!!

I've had one crack in almost 100K rds reloaded.  You probably just got a hard one.  Mine slips in and out of the fork too but I pretty much ignore that.
