i was at my local hunters outlet yesterday looking for a set of reloading dies for my dad for christmas and glimsed upon some .223 brass. they had 2 100ct bags of rem and thought to myself that i should grab them. i passed and got home and kinda kicked myself for not grabbing them so i went back this morning.  the employee told me one bag was grabbed right after i left, and the other this morning. i just got back from a trip to cabelas and they were completely wiped clean too.... only other option to check is scheels.

i'd like to get stocked up so im gtg when my ar arrives.

what do you guys think about this? is this .223 brass stuff thats regularly getting restocked, or is turning into about the same ridiculous game as ar stuff?

From what I have been seeing its been like the AR stuff.

It's a combination due to a panic of people buying it all up and the military.

Keep a close eye on the EE. There is a lot of brass on there, but it goes quick.

I would buy once fired, same headstamp, from one of the many retailers that sell it.

If you are in the metro you need to shop at The Gunstop in Minnetonka.  Nosler, Lapua, and WW on the shleves the last time I was there.

well i found 2 bags at scheels last night so i snatched that up.  i've never looked at scheels for reloading stuff but to my surprise, they had a much wider selection than our cabelas.

go to your local gun club or place that holds AR matches. buy their brass, you will get it at 55$ per 1K at most, and at the least, scrap brass price....
i buy in bulk at scrap prices and just sort once fired from questionable. i use the questionable for weak loads that i plan on shoting in areas where i can not recover the brassd(winter or a grassy area)

Definately group buy as I believe they require a $10k deposit. Looked at getting some a couple of months ago, until I read the fine print !

How long would 5 TONS of brass take to reload?

yeap, egf, the scheels is in grand forks obviously.   i was really disappointed in cabelas selection. who knows, it just seems they had alot more when my father first started reloading. that was many years ago, so maybe they've thinned out.

lol if you had a dillon 1050 and the electric motor for it and could keep it runing for 24 hours a day and afford to feed it non stop for 7 days you could crank out roughly 151k rounds not sure the avg weight of 1 piece of unprocessed brass is or i could give you a little closer to real timeline HAHAHAHAHA. If you cant tell ive looked into doing a bulk brass purchase and how much money and how much time it would take to reload it all hahahahahaha wishful thinking.
