| Are ya'll using neck dies instead of full length dies to decap the primer and resize the neck in your bolt guns? Will this really improve the accuracy in a particular rifle or prolong the case life since they don't affect the shoulder and body of the case? If so, who do you recommend; Lee Collet, RCBS, Redding, Forester, etc? Thanks. |

The less you work the brass the longer the case will last, for the most part. I have 17 reloads on one lot of 308 Lapua Brass. This has been neck sized and had the shoulder bumped a few times along the way.
If you really want to do it right, IMHO. I would get a Redding Type S Bushing Die and then get the bushing that will be 0.003" less the neck diameter of a loaded round of you ammo. This will of course very from brand to brand of brass. Bushing dies do not use the expander ball, so that helps decreasing the work hardening of the brass. Case neck annealing along the way will enhance the case life too. |
