| We have a Pro2000 that we can not get enough adjustment out of for seating 45acp bullets. The seating stem run out and the taper engages way to soon. All RCBS could tell us was to purchase a seperate seating die. This same seater/taper dies works fine in a AUTOMASTER. Also we have the Pro2000 set up for 9mm and 45long colt and they work fine. Any help would be appreciated. |

If I'm following you right, back your die out of your die holder a little and get you sample bullet set to the right depth with the stem. Then go back and back you stem out and get your die housing set to the taper you want. Now raise the terret and set your stem to the sample bullet depth.
The housing will set your taper crimp and the stem only sets your bullet depth. I hope this helps. mince |

Sorry but I am having trouble figuring this. If the die and stem work in another press then the RCBS press shouldn't make any difference. Like has already been stated, start with the bullet stem screwed way out and screw down the die until it just touches the top of the case. Then unscrew the die about 1/8 inch. Now seat a bullet in an empty case and adjust the stem down until you get the OAL that is wanted. Now unscrew the stem and screw down the die until you get the amount of taper crimp you want. Then finally screw down the stem until it touches the top of the bullet again. Lock everything in place.
Sorry if this is too basic but I can't figure how changing presses would affect this, the relationship between the die and the bullet stem doesn't change when you put it in a different press. My RCBS dies will all screw in far enough to bottom out on the shell holder so that should not be a factor (I don't have a Pro2000 so this may not be the same on those). Make sure you are using the correct stem for your bullets, my RCBS sets come with at least 2 for ball ammo, TC's etc. |
