I have about 175 pieces of Federal .223 rem brass.  I've reloaded/shot it once already.  After depriming and resizing, I segregated it from my other brass.

I remember hearing something bad about Federal brass and reloading.   What's the wise choice?  Recycle bin???

Split necks and over sized primer pockets.

Personally, if they look good after inspecting and will hold the primer.... then I use them. But, I am aware of the issues and do look them over a couple of times during the process. Actually, I treat all of the brass equally, suspect all.

It's worthless. Give it to me and I will assure that it gets properly disposed of.

Some Federal brass has thin webs.  Measuring from the case head to the inside of the case should be at least 0.170" for safe operation in most firearms.  There is usually a serious burr on the flash hole which can interfere with this measurement. Make a gauge plug that is .224" in diameter with a 3/16" countersink in the end.  A good length is 2.000".  Insert this into the case and measure with calipers, the distance over 2.000" is the direct case head thickness.
