Hi,
I'm still learning reloading and had a couple questions in relation to case cleaning and trimming.
So, cases get cleaned in a tumbler prior to resizing and decapping. Is it necessary to do any more than shake out the cleaning media from the brass? Does the media not leave any residue on the cases?
I'm using a RCBS trim pro hand operted trimmer. Is there any real worry of brass shavings getting into the case after trimmng? Would a couple small flakes getting into the case harm the rifle when fired?
Thanks,
Ken

Mitigate the dust in your tumbler by adding a dryer sheet every third load or thereabouts.  A used sheet works as well as a new sheet for collecting up the dust.

The dust left over after tumbling should not be pushed into a die.  Now after I tumble, I use a rotary media separator and this seems to knock off whatever dust was left.  I did without this separator for a long time, but I think it's a great tool to add to speed things along.

After I trim, I dump the brass shavings.  I used compressed air for a long time to blow the dust off and shavings out, but now I tumble in a rotary tumbler with corn cob to remove the lube and whatever shavings are left.

Blowing the remnants of brass shavings left over after combustion down a barrel probably won't hurt the barrel, but it's not something I'm going to do.  I want all the brass out.
