I would like to get set up for .458 mostly and maybe 5.56 and 9mm in the future, I have not done any reloading so I am looking for help getting together a good reloading setup including any accesories I might need. Any links or part numbers you can give would be great, I am not too worried about cost I just want to make sure it works well. Thanks for any help you can give. Stacey Title edited. AeroE |

I have been searching but do not find much on reloading .458 Socom so any help would be appreaciated. Would this press work for .458 Socom? I want to reload .223 at some point so want something that will put out some ammo fairly quickly. Press Stacey |

I reload the .458 socom on a single stage. Something like a rockchucker would work fine. The brass is large and take quite a bit of pressure to resize. I think most people who reload for this round use a single stage, although you could use a progressive, I would resize on a single stage first. The .458 is not a high volume round to fire. It is not like .223 where you fire hundreds of rounds at a session. I maybe fire 10-20 rounds at a time during a range session. Hornady dies are the ones to get. The lee dies have a lot of problems. Check the .458 forums for more info. I use H110 for the remington 300 JHP and 405 gr. These rounds kick real hard so don't be alarmed. This is not your mothers .223! Use good lube when resizing the cases and ask questions if your not sure what your doing, but most importantly, have furn! |
