I've loaded 25 each at 5 and 5.5 grains of Unique, and I'm less than satisfied with the accuracy. With 5.5 grains, I was'nt hitting paper at 15 paces. At 5 grains, at least I was hitting - low and to the left.

Can I safely go lower at say, 4.8 or 4.5 and have a reliable man stopper?

This is being used out of a Officers Model FWIW.

If your loading 45acp, I load 185 xtp with 7grains of unique. This is a very accurate load in my 1911. The lyman manual lists 7.8 MAX for this combo in 45acp. And that 4.5grn load would only give you about 600fps so i'd go up not down with the powder. Hope this helps ya.
