I know this may have been asked before but how many of you sort brass by year ? the reason I ask is because I have only been reloading for a couple of months and have all LC brass from Scharch the LC stuff varies in year 63-2005 mostly 74 and 2005 and I have all in there own pail it seems to me that I could put all in the same tub and cycle it thru but I am not sure this is not for precision and will be cycled in a M1A
And how many reloads can expect from this brass I currently load 43.8 IMR 4895 with a 150 Hornady Bulk from Wideners

I only sort to the year for match loads.

I've always sorted by year and maker.  It's easy to do during the inspection process and then easy to keep separate later when you shoot them and run them back through the reloading process.

If you want proof of the reasoning, resize and trim before weighing some cases from different years and record their weights.  If they have different weights they have different internal volumes (you already made sure their outside dimensions were the same so the only difference is case wall thickness).  Different internal volumes can lead to different pressures during powder burn causing velocity differences.

You'll have some pressure velocity differences anyway, but why add to them.

I only sort for case problems and berdan primers.

I dont sort and load 'em all up with midrange loads.  If I want match loads I'll pull some out of the lot with the same headstamps after the fact.  I don't punch paper much so doesn't matter.

So ho many loads can I expect to get from this brass ? or do I just go by it starting to fail, I thought I had read somewhere that (6) times then you toss it for recycle regardless if it still looks good or not

This came up before, no exact answer, but 6 is good, around 4 reloads the necks will start to split
