I have found that by turning the brass while hand priming you can find a "sweet "
spot, and seat primers with out removing the crimp.  I always clean the pockets with a uniforming tool first.  I find this works on 6 out of 10 cases.  Has anybody else done this?

yep. I have found the same results as yours by turning the case as I try to prime. Keep in mind that the Federal American Eagle loaded in LC cases have a much more pronounced crimp.

What do you do with the 4 out of 10 your trick doesn't work with?

For me it's just easier to remove the crimp and load normally.

I set them aside and remove the crimp later.

Even when I swage I occasionally have to rotate the LC cases to get CCIs to seat.

sometimes I have the hard to seat primer even after the pocket's been swaged.  I try the rotation trick and most of the time it works.  If not, then 2 things happen: either the primer gets seated halfway in jamming the shell plate which I'll have to stroke the press again which now has a universal decapper in the sizing die position (I do all my rifle sizing on a single stage press ahead of time) and I decap it, or I get lucky and the primer doesnt get stuck halfway.

Either way, I remove the case and ream the bejesus out of it with the Hornady hand reamer tool and reseat the primer

On the 550B progressive, if you use the univesal decapper to remove a halfway seated primer you have to remove the case at the powder drop station.  On the 650 you'll have to remove every case at every station because of the auto index feature.

Auto and manual indexing both have their plusses and minuses

And I thought it was just me having this problem with LC brass.
