If I am reloading .223 for use in an Ar-15, do I need to use a crimp die to crimp the bullets into the casing?

If so, what kind of crimp die should I use? I have noticed several different styles that make different types of crimp.
I have a Lee press, and Lee dies.

Thanx!

I do not crimp my .223, but I hear a lot of good things about Lee's Factory Crimp Die (FCD)

I do use the FCD on my .45 and .380 rounds

Do you have to crimp ? No, my suggested method is a Redding Taper Crimp or a Lee FCD.  For a uniform crimp you need the case length to be relatively consistent!

For blasting ammo, I crimp.  But for precison ammo I do not crimp.  And, this is over several platforms AR, M1 Garand, or M1A.

+1 Lee FCD. Cheap and effective.
