I shoot several bolt actions, have settled on a load that is accurate and cost efficient. I load 15g of Reddot. I've used it with a 1944 98K and 150g bullets, a 1914 SMLE MKIII and a 180g bullet, a M17 Eddystone made in 1918 and 150g bullet, a Springfield 1903 made in 1918 with a 150g bullet, an 1944 03A3 with 150g bullet, a 1944 MKIV with a 180 g bullet, and a 1950 FN Mauser with a 150g bullet. Have fired about fifty through each gun, recoil is pleasant, at 100 yds accuracy is excellent. Best of all I can shoot them without worrying about the gun. As soon as I can get 7.62x54 and 7.7 dies I'll add them also.

What about for Garand?  I know you need to step it down light to avoid damaging the op rod.

A small load of pistol powder like Red Dot is not going to operate a gas gun.

A Garand is SPECIAL.

Don't use bullets that weigh over 180 gr.

and

Use powder that is close to the burning rate of IMR4895.

Fact is......I find it easier to just use Garand specific recommended load data......tweaked to fit ME.   As always, start low and work your way up.

This works only with bolt actions. Its just an easy target load. Would work with the Garand but wouldn'r cycle the action.
