Thank you in advance. yes...www.rrages.com heres a good set of vids step by step: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7nO_t1sB9M on that note...anyone know if it's worth upgrading the screws on a 522? It looks like they are the same screws as on the gsg-5. |

I don't know how anyone could own a GSG-5 without the upgraded screws. The stock ones strip on the second or third time you even touch them.
And you NEED to be able to, especially the little ones on the bolt jacket, those need to be tight all the time or your GSG-5 will fall apart on you, and they need to be lock-tited. Even with loc-tite, mine get lose after only a box of 500. Kinda sucks because then every time you clean, tightening the bolt jacket screws has to be part of the process. As a result, my Ruger MK3 and 10/22 get a lot more use than my GSG-5. |

I installed the screw upgrade kit on my GSG, but could only wonder if it was really doing anything. I mean unless the threads were stripped out on the frame, they would tighten down before the nuts were providing any holding power.Even if you had the nut seated all the way at the bottom of the well, there is a chance there would be a small clearance between the frame and nut rendering the nut useless. Seems the best thing to do would be drill out the existing threads in the frame so the new bolts turned freely then the nuts would be doing the job they were meant to and not just setting on the bolt in the little wells of the frame. Anybody else put this thought into this or see where I'm coming from?
