I noticed today that the front sight of my weapon had a chip in the paint on the outside of the ring on the right side.  It's small and not a huge deal, but I'm wondering about options to fix it just the same.  Is there a quick (and cheap) fix to this, or is it more trouble than it's worth?

Your local auto parts store in the paint section-the small bottles with a brush inside. It may not be an exact match as that flavor is a semi gloss, but may be worth a shot. Also check out paint pens at your local office or art supply store, or perhaps Testors hobby paint. The repair can be carefully (lightly) scuffed with a scotch brite to tone down the gloss if necessary.

I use Birchwood Casey's Super Black flat touch-up paint for litte nicks.

Flat black works better than the gloss?

Yes.  The glossy is too glossy.

Good call on the Super Black. If need be (depending on the chip size), the repair can be buffed to closer match the stock semi gloss.
