I have a gsg-5 (gen 1) and am having a new kind of failure that haven't seen before. Once or twice a mag a round is properly loaded into the chamber but the trigger won't fire. No a thin strike or FTF, it just won't fire. I have to take the mag out, cycle the bolt, reinsert mag, then it works fine. Same bullet.

Anyone seen this before? Any ideas what could be causing the problem?

I've done just about every mod imaginable that I've read about here so maybe I messed something up along the way..

thanks,
jason

I had the same problem last time out, have not had time to check into it,

doh! I found the problem, I accidentally mixed in subsonics in my bag and that's what was causing the problem, they are underpowered for the gsg-5 action. Loaded it with normal (supersonic) loads and she runs fine now.

as an fyi, my Umarex Colt runs fine with subsonics

Read the thread title and the first thing that came to mind was the bolt wasn't cycling all the way

problem solved, I can now run subsonics without issue. I opened the GSG up and noticed a lot of wear on the inside receiver frame where the breech bolt slides back and forth. Took one of the wife's nail files and smoothed out to a mirror finish on both receiver and bolt. Seems that was enough to reduce friction and allow the underpowered ammo to properly blowback and reset the trigger.

I have also had this problem but haven't figured it out. I've always shot the Remington gold bulk with a percentage of bad primers (did the fiiring pin mod long ago). Now I tried Federal Spitfires and have the trigger not resetting. First thought was lower powered ammo but after chrony testing with both kinds of ammo, it appears the opposite. From a Ruger MKII Govt. Model pistol the Remington was 980-1040 fps. and Federal Spitfire was 1250 fps. Usually I would take a few coils off the recoil spring(s) but I'm hesitant after these numbers.

This is a gen 1 carbine as well.
