Hello everyone,
I took my GSG to the range yesterday and had some problems.... which is most often the case. The plastic part that pushes the bullets upward is getting stuck as it moves from the bottom of the mag to the top. It's as if it has gotten bigger and does not fit properly anymore. (happened to both mags I have) Does anyone know what is causing this? The mags were both recently cleaned and oiled. I was thinking about taking out the plastic part that pushes the bullets upward and sanding down the edges so it fits again. On a separate note, I also have light strikes sometimes. Could this have something to do with the fact that I had to ship the gun in for a faulty extractor and stovepiping issues? |
| I noticed the same thing with my near-2 year old mags, even after lubing them. Here's what I did to solve the problem. I had kept the mags (24 rounders) loaded pretty routinely and left in the case. I took them apart, cleaned them well and the follower was still sticky and hanging-up a bit between one and two inches from the top. I noticed the guide rail that the follower rides in (inside) kind of kinks where it transitions from the curvature of the lower part to the straight section that inserts in the magwell. I used some fine wet/dry sand paper wrapped around a small flat piece of wood as a backing and took off some of that kink, then polished the area as well as the contact points on the follower with a fine auto product polishing compound. Finished off all those areas with some car wax and now it's very smooth. I also noticed the spring only extended about one inch out of the bottom of the mag with the end cap off...carefully stretched it to about 3 1/2 inches. No problems since. |
| Thanks, thats what I had planned on doing but I went ahead and called American Tactical first. They said they would replace the mags, seems with some of the earlier mags there was some type of problem with the injection molding process. They always have great customer service! |
