Hi,
I recently purchased a GSG 5 PK. I took it to the range for the first time today and Had a variety of Failure to Fire problems. Any help in evaluating my condition is appreciated. The gear and background info: 2nd gen GSG 5 PK, federal bulk 22 ammo, stock ten round mag, 3 pro mag 30 round mags. The failures occurred with all mags. I did not use the mag as a forward grip. The firearm was cleaned prior to use. I did not oil it. I forgot. Three traditional light primer strikes...not a real problem this happens. There was a strong visible dent from the firing pin. I'm blaming the primer compound. Three failure to load/dry fire on empty chamber. Not a problem new mags might take a break in period plus I didn't have time to clean the before use. Multiple , more than 15, failures to fire. The firearm would chamber a round, close the bolt, pull the trigger and nothing happens. The safety was not on. I was not using the mag as a grip. I was not using the mag as a monopod. This type of failure occurred in every magazine. In the fifty or sixty rounds I shot, I was unable to empty a mag without this failure. It was like the firearm failed to cock when the bolt went back. Any advice appreciated. |
| The most common problem to your situation would be the rivet is loose. If your bolt is not riveted send it to ATI and they will do it. I had the EXACT same problems as you did. I had around 15-20 failure to fires in all my magazines using federal bulk ammo. I sent my gun out 3-4 weeks ago. I called ATI just last week and asked them if they found out what was wrong. They told me they had to order me a new barrel from Germany because my barrel was loose and there was weakspots in the barrell. I spoke to Ray or Mike, they told me the barrel out of place was causing the problem to failure to fire. I would have never found out the problem by myself. I also got all the upgrades when i first send my bolt in, they also put in a new firing pin and other things but still has the same problems. My gun will be here Friday and it should be finally fix. Hope this helps. |
