I've noticed that ever since I've got my GSG 5 carbine dialed in, I have a single reoccurring issue and that is misfed ammo. It is not super common but it does happen and because I am a perfectionist, it pisses me off. I notice that the rounds misfeed and are actually bent up. I think this has to do with quick trigger work. I notice that if you try to double tap quickly, this action seems to be the most common time for this malfunction. I wondered if changing the angle slightly on the follower would prevent this. Firing the weapon slowly, this malfunction almost never occurs. But we all know, this gun is too fun to shoot slow.

How much lube are you running? I've found for quick, repeated shots that the GSG loves to be oiled in order to run well while hot & fast. Shoot it semi-dry or close & irregularties pop up, IMO.

I know this sounds bad, but what lube are you using?
Is there any area that should be focused on?

Nah, not bad at all.

For most of my lube, I use Breakfree. On something like the GSG (or AR for that matter) I take a pipe cleaner, bend a hook on the end & then use that as a paint brush to coat the entire bolt with oil. I also coat the inside of the upper receiver as well with a thin coat. Virtually any piece of metal that has a moving part touch it or if it touches a moving piece of metal gets a coat of oil.

My shooting buddies used to laugh at me when a mist of oil coated their shooting glasses whenever they shot one of my guns. Then, at matches, when their guns puked & mine ran, they quit laughing & started oiling.

I tell people that a gun is like sex: no such thing as being too wet!

Any good quality gun oil will work for you. I tried grease, but it was too thick & didn't work well at all.

Hope this helps!

Cool thahks!

I have heard that some lubes may take off the finish of our GSGs'

I think guys were using WD40 as lube and that may have effected the finish.

Never heard of lube doing that, but there's a first time for everything, I guess.

On the subject of lube, it never ceases to amaze me that one would never dream of running a car or lawnmower engine without oil, yet have no hesitation of running a semi with a minimum of oil on it.

I'd bet 90%+ of the issues I see at the gun range with folks are a direct result of lack of proper lube, IMO.

I'll chime in . . .

My sweet little GSG-5 has always run 100% with CCI mini-mags.  Ran 100% with Remington Golden Bullets too.  Ran about 95% on the Wincheter 555 bulk pack. But about one round in every mag of the Federal bulk pack would be a problem–– failure to feed, stovepipe, etc..

Gun is always run pretty well lubed with Breakfree.

At the range last weekend I once again tried running Federal bulk pack. In a total of six full mags I had ZERO problems !   All I did was "time" my shots –– one shot every second or so.  But when I ran the gun as a "bullet-hose" –– in other words as fast as I could pull the trigger ––  the problems came back.    Tried running the Winchester with "time shots" and they too ran 100%.

Hmmmmm . . . .

Guess I'll save my high priced Mini-Mags for the steel plate shoots, and "time" my shots for the other cheap stuff.

Anyone know where I can pick up one of those "nickel" GSG-5's ? ? ? ?

I think your answer lies in a heavier/stronger magizine spring.

Not sure about the spring. In the early stages of GSG'dom, I felt the mags(springs and cleanliness) were at fault for 90% of all failures, but now I am not so sure. I will do the cpl tihng....overdo it infact and report my results.
