I had no problem removing the handguard screws.  Next it comes time to remove the screws from the back cover on the GSG-5P.  The right smaller screw comes out no problem.  I try to unscrew the left one and the tip of the slotted screw driver attachment breaks off and damaged the top of the screw.  Any suggestions on how to remove the screw before it strips completely?

I would find another screw driver a touch bigger and see if you can fit it in there. You might want to use a small file to clean up the inside edges of the screw head so you can put another screw driver in there with ease.

The screw head is friction fitted and won't screw out.  Once you remove the small screw, try a small diameter punch and tap from the small screw side and the pin will move so you can pull it out of the stock and receiver.  If you don't have a punch, get a piece of small diameter brass rod so you don't bugger up the pin.  DON'T TAP HARD, just enough to move the screw.

Please consider a set of gunsmith screw drivers if you plan to install and reinstall screws on a firearm.  They are square ground and won't do what yours did...

Hope this helps.  You're not far from having it out.

I tried what you advised with the punch and it came out.  Thank you all for your assistance.

I bought one from Brownells with a 16 bit set for around $20. Magnetic tip means I don't drop tiny screws either.
