Hello all, I bought an as new GSG5 rifle last night. Of course my first job was to take it apart and clean it. I noticed the (leapers) rail was tight at the fron of the gun and sticking up maybe an 1/8 inch or more at the back. Me being the perfectionist could not live with that. So I took it off to see what was wrong. Bottom line I ended up using a dremel to work on the rail a bit and it now fits better but not good. Is this a common problem? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Don't know about the mount you have, but if it doesn't fit right modify it or pitch it. Mounts for this gun are everywhere for $10 or less. I won mine on Gunbroker for $.99 + shipping. It's a G&P - the same people that make the best of the fake Aimpoints. Seems OK so far. If it fails I'll definitely spend more money on a G&G. I thought Leapers made pretty good stuff for the price - maybe I've been mislead.

I've seen some low-profile scope mounts  positioned too far aft, and it rides up on the square "hump" that's on top of the frame  that is meant to act as a scope stop.  This results in the mount sitting too high in the back, and appearantly the owner doesn't realize. I saw a pic someone posted the other day and wondered why they don't notice.
It will cause extreme elevation adjustments with the scope....
If the scope mount doesn't sit right it's either defective or installed wrong.

Here is what I mean.........I hope this guy notices the problem, look at the rear mount claw......It jacked up because the mount is riding up on the scope-stop,

Real G&G mounts have steel claws, the cheap $10.00 knock-off ones have aluminum claws that will bend and break eventually.  Be careful what you buy.
